I know it seems I have been blogging a lot about Gavin lately. I figure it is because he is still at the age of constant firsts( plus he doesn't talk back yet, so I am usually happy with him). He makes a new discovery nearly everyday, and it is so much fun to watch Him! All of the little things that I don't give a second thought to are an adventure to him. Its refreshing to stop and take a look at the world through his sweet innocent eyes. Today's first? Dilly bars!

Whenever I go places with my four boys we get plenty of looks. We often get comments, "are they all yours?". "four boys". I suppose we are pretty used to it. So, how do you get even more looks and questions? Take five boys to the zoo. My nephew Hunter fit right in!

More cub scout fun!

The rain gutter regatta. Basically it is the boating equivalent of the pinewood derby. Our pack held their rain gutter regatta this past month. Now that I am a den leader I felt I should also be participating. Of course, if I was going to make a boat, and Jake was going to make a boat, how likely was it that I could get away with Bray and Logan not making a boat? Not likely at all! Chris was a great sport as the four of us sat down to make boats, none of us having the slightest idea of what we were doing. In the end Brayden, Logan, and I had fun designing boats that were cute, but didn't float very well. Unlike the pinewood derby, Jake (with help from Chris) designed a boat that proved to be unbeatable! We had a great night together. Boys really are a lot of fun!

Gavin was born five weeks prematurely. It seems he is always playing catch up. He is small for his age, in fact his weight still hasn't made the charts. At 18 months he just started walking. He isn't really talking yet. Despite all of this, he is a confident and hilarious child. He has all of us trained! Whenever he "goes for a walk", be it down the street or just across the family room, he stops and waits for us to cheer. When he does something he finds funny, he gives a darling little laugh, and then waits for us to do the same. Whenever there is clapping or cheering, Gavin believes it is for him and responds accordingly. I hope he never loses this part of his personality. He is so much fun!

What is that? I was asking myself the same question when I walked outside the other day to retrieve my oldest two from the neighbors. Did we have a massive snake? A Prarie dog or some other kind of animal in the yard? I decided to question the boys and see if they had noticed anything. Upon questioning I found my answer. The boys had dug the hole themselves. Why? That's what I wanted to know! The nonchalant response: "we were practicing our golf, and needed a first hole". I guess I should feel lucky that I caught them at the first hole rather than the ninth or eighteenth!

I am really having a great time working with Jake in cub scouts. One of the perks for him is that I am always aware of what he should be doing to progress, and we work on it together. This past month Jake received his religious knot, the boy scouts achievement in religious recognition. It was a great experience watching Jake strengthen his testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are proud of him and his willingness to share his testimony with others

My Littlest Man

I never thought i would be that super sensitive super sentimental kind of mom. When the school year starts I nearly shout for Joy! A vacation sans children, Hallelujah!!! First day of school

Well, it's that time of the year again. Mom is giddy, the kids are grumpy. It is time to go back to school! Though I know they hate it, I am glad my boys let me get a few photos. I let them choose the poses, hence the car pic and long faces. I hope it will be a school year to remember! I am so proud of my little men!

Summer fun

For me, one of the summers highlights was spending time with my Mom and Dad. I was able to help them cater a couple of weddings, which meant for very long, but rewarding weekends. I am so amazed by my parents. They continue to teach me so many things. They are an incredible example of love and compassion. They are quick to serve others, especially me! They endure physical trials with grace, never complaining or losing hope. Every time I see my parents together, I am reminded just how much they love each other. I feel so blessed to have parents who not only love each other, but have always made it clear to their children how in love they are. Thanks Mom and Dad! I love you!

Lily's baptism

My niece Lily was baptized this summer. I had the privilege of being her photographer in her beautiful white dress. It was a special occasion for me because lily chose to be baptized in the white dress my mother had made for me when I was baptized, also at the age of eight. Another school year gone!

It was hard for me to believe that another school year had come and gone, now we are three weeks into the new school year and I am trying to catch up. We enjoyed all of the end of the year activities. Jake and Brayden especially enjoyed field day, who wouldn't! Logan participated in an end of the year preschool program, were he helped to celebrate the graduation of three cousins who will be going to kindergarten next year. We are so proud of all of our boys. It is hard to believe how fast the time is flying. We are loving (almost) every minute of it!

A special visit!

As many if you may remember, Chris spent several weeks in India a few years back for work. This past weekend we had the opportunity to have one of the great people he met there come for a visit. Nanda instantly felt like one of the family. She didn't even run away screaming when my four children, along with their eight cousins, came over to hang out. We went bowling, had a party, when to Garden of the Gods, and of course cooked and enjoyed lots of great Indian food. Gavin especially enjoyed the afternoon that Nanda decided to share her chocolate bar.

We feel so lucky to have such an amazing friend! Thanks to our friends and family for helping to welcome Nanda to Colorado!

Cub scouts!

I suppose I should have been expecting the call when it came. A mother of four boys should plan on spending many years of her life as a cub scout leader. Lucky me, my years have begun! I was called to be the bears den leader just in time for Jake to become a bear. We will have lots of fun together. In this less Than great picture we are both sporting our cub scout attire, as Jake receives his wolf. We are very proud of Him for achieving this goal. We love you Jake!

First Haircut

Jake only made it to six months, I think Brayden was 10 months, Logan around 9 months, and Gavin held out the longest, 11 months old for His first haircut. Looking back I realize how shaggy he looked, but I just didn't want him to look so old. Now that his hair is cut he looks more like a little boy than a baby. Thanks to Aunt Manda for doing the honors, sorry he screamed the whole time!

Logan is a mommas boy. I always worry that he is going to throw a fit if I am not with him. In January He went on a field trip for preschool. I had just had surgery, so I couldn't go. I was nervous about it until his teacher Miss Ang sent me this photo. The field trip was to Hammond's Candy, and apparently not even Logan can be crabby in a candy shop!

Gavin Eats

Gavin fell in love with food the first moment it crossed his lips. This tiny little boy LOVES to eat. He will eat just about anything. He has proved that teeth are optional, everything can be gummed. We are constantly surprised by his food choices. Some foods are easily eaten, others not so much, but Gavin always eats with style...His very own, very messy style.

January 31st was Brayden's 6th birthday. I feel like such a silly old mom thinking back to the day he was born and feeling sentimental. I have a hard time believing that Brayden is over half way through kindergarten. Next year he will leave me all day every day. Brayden is so much fun! He is especially sensitive to the needs of others. His kindness touches my heart. Brayden is an amazing big brother. He loves to take care of Gavin, even volunteering to change diapers. Brayden is small in stature, but His huge spirit more than makes up for it! We love him so much! Our family just wouldn't be complete without him.

Our First Pinewood Derby

Now that Jake is eight, he is a member of the Cub Scout troop at church. In January they held their annual pinewood derby competition. Unfortunately Daddy was out of town. Chris and Jake worked on the car before he left, but we were grateful for Grampy's help finishing it up. It was a fun night. The car looked great! As far as the race? Well, lets just say we have a few things to learn about building a winning car. Oh well, this was the first of MANY chances for our family.

Our family had a lovely Thanksgiving spent in Utah with Chris' grandparents and other family members. Unfortunately the picturres of my kids with their great grandparents were not taken on my camera. I have been waiting to get the pictures so that I could continue my blog chronologically. I still don't have the pictures...It's March! I suppose I better forge ahead (or behind) and get all caught up.

Christmas, as always, was wonderful. We are blessed to be surrounded by family to treasure during one of my favorite times of the year. We enjoyed all of our Christmas traditions, decorations, and fun. Most of all I enjoyed having the opportunity to share my testimony of Jesus Christ with my children more often than usual. I am so grateful for His humble birth and Incredible life. My life is truly blessed by His sacrifice and example. I hope that every year at Christmas time I will be able to ponder and impart my testimony of the true meaning of Christmas!

My Baby Boy is 10 Months Old!

Life has been extremely crazy lately! Three unplanned surgeries in my family, Chris out of town, and all kinds of other nonsense. So crazy that I haven't even blogged about our trip for Thanksgiving, let alone Christmas. Even so, I had to pause for a moment to contemplate hoe incredibly blessed I am. I have four beautiful children that I adore, and friends and family that I know I can count on for anything. Today I am especially grateful for my sweet Gavin. I can hardly believe that he is 10 months old! He is incredibly sweet, loving, and patient with his three older brothers. Life just would not be the same without him!

I love seeing all of my nieces and nephews join together with my children making memories they will one day cherish. 3 year olds

Don't you just love three year olds? They are constantly exploring, testing their boundaries, learning new things. The other day I was trying to get Logan to help pick up the mess he had made. me "Logan, please put the toys in the bin" Logan "but mama I can't!" Me "why not?" Logan "because I am allergic to picking up". All I could do was laugh. I just love my three year old!

How I Love Halloween

How do I love Halloween, let me count the ways... Theres decorations and costumes and parties and cookies... I could go on! For the first time ever Chris and I decided that rather than force family themed costumes on our opinionated young ones we would let them choose what they wanted to be. The three older boys chose to be Ninjas(so not exciting for mom). Since Gavin isn't old enough to assert a position I chose a costume for him. Chris was the Wizard of Oz, I was Dorothy, and Gavin was the Cowardly Lion. It was great fun!!! Can't wait to design costumes for next year!

Jake became a cub scout in July, and he is loving every minute of it! At our last pack meeting Jake earned his bobcat, as well as his chess belt loop. I had fun "bobcat-ing" him with face paint, and was touched as he gave me the mothers pin that goes with the bobcat award. I look forward to the many opportunities I will have to work with my boys as they accomplish these important milestones. Congratulations Jake!

Our last first food

A first attempt at solid food is the first of many firsts that mean a baby is growing up. Though he is only 12lbs my baby is now six months old, and the firsts have begun. This set of firsts is our last set, as there are no new siblings intended in the near future (though I suppose you never know). Somehow witnessing a child's first taste of food never gets old. His brothers thought it was hilarious, and Chris and I couldn't help but smile. Gavin has a lot of funny faces!!!

My spunky little Logan turned three in July. That means that he got to start pre-school this year. For 4 precious hours a week I have only one child at home. So fun for Gavin and I! Logan LOVES being in school and wearing his "pack pack" like a big boy. I'm sure we are in for a very fun year!

Baby Brother

Poor Gavin!!! He is the youngest of four boys, which means that the older three will always be looking for new ways to tease/torture/humiliate him. Sure, at this age it is kind of cute to dress him up, or yes, put tupper ware on his head, but what will happen when he gets older? No doubt his older brothers will come up with new and inventive ways to make Gavin wish he wasn't youngest of four boys. Maybe I will be wrong, maybe they will all want to be his "best buddy". For his sake let's hope so!

The week before the boys started school we attended a family reunion in Utah. We stayed in park city, and had a great time(more pictures to follow). The first afternoon we rode the Alpine slide. It was a lot of fun, until I flew off of my sled and rode the tracks on my arms. Oh well, I would do it again! I'm so glad it wasn't one of my kids!

Birthday Boys!

July is the month of birthdays! Our family always has a crazy July as we celebrate the birth of Aunt Lisa, Uncle Matt, Cousin Lizzie, Jake, Logan, Aunt Jenn, Uncle Tom, and Papa Whitmill. What a month! Jake and Logan have back to back birthdays which usually require two party themes, two cakes, etc. Luckily this year my boys were able to reach a consensus and we enjoyed a Toy Story 3 birthday party. The highlight of our weekend was the opportunity to see Jake as he made a choice to be baptized and confirmed a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am so proud of the choice he has made to follow Jesus Christ. He is a wonderful, kind, and loving son and brother. We love him so!

Independence day

The 4th of July is one of my favorite Holidays. I feel so blessed to live in a country where I have so much freedom. I am especially grateful to be able to worship God openly, and even share my beliefs with others. I am so thankful for those who have fought over many years past so that we could be free, and retain that freedom. The 4th of July is a great time for fireworks and family, but most of all I time to remember and be grateful!

Each year we plant a garden in our backyard, and we also help papa plant his many tomatoes. It is always a fun and exciting time. No matter what their age the children love to plant and then carefully attend to their own plants. I love the pride in their eyes when the plant finally produces fruit, and the joy in their smile when they eat it. I love watching my little ones grow! I have so much joy as I see the ways they have changed over the years. Hope you enjoy a look at our garden, now and in years past!

The end of the school year is always a busy time. Trying to pass your math facts, one last spelling test, end of the year teacher gifts and programs. Jake had a great time singing in his last choir concert of the year, and of course participating in field day! We all enjoyed watching the concert which was outside. We narrowly missed the thunderstorm, but did get to enjoy a rainbow! Bravo Jake for all you accomplished this year! We love you!!!

I am certainly not a professional photographer, but I do like to play with my camera! Today I set out with a few stolen poses from my sister in law, and a very photogenic family. In 45 minutes I snapped several hundred photos, and was able to narrow it down to my favorite 41. Don't worry, I won't include all of them! Not bad for a first try.

It has been a really fun past few months for Brayden. We enjoyed watching our middle child shine as he played his first team sport, soccer. He seemed to take right to it, even doing a running somersault after he scored a goal just like the pros! Brayden also "graduated" from pre-school, and will be starting kindergarten in two short months. I can hardly believe how fast the time goes! Brayden fills our lives with laughter, we are so blessed to have him in our family.

Our Little "Doll"

Our youngest son Gavin just turned two months old. My nieces like to play "baby doll" with him, and love him nearly to death. The other night we were at my parents house where my mom has a set of baby dolls for the kids to enjoy. They come complete with their own clothes, bassinets, and even rocking chairs. We all had a good laugh when we realized that Gavin could make use of all of the baby doll accessories. Here he is pictured with one of the babies in their rocking chairs. To give a little perspective, both of the rocking chairs are sitting on the seat of a chair in my parents living room. Happy 2 months Gavin!

May second was a special day for our family. We had the opportunity to gather with family and friends for the blessing of our youngest son Gavin. I love spring! Although it is often snowy or at least cold here in Colorado on Easter, it still seems to signal the start of spring. No matter what the weather, we are always happy to celebrate the resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ. Easter signifies a new beginning. With the (early) birth of our youngest son we have had a chance to contemplate how truly blessed we are as a family. We are so grateful for the knowledge we have that our Savior lives, and that because of His sacrifice we all will live again. Happy Spring!

Gavin comes home

March 25th was a very happy day for our family. Gavin finally got to come home! We were all thrilled that he passed all of the necessary tests. Daddy and Logan came to pick us up, and since the older boys were both at school Logan was the first big brother to meet little Gavin. Each of the boys were thrilled to have the baby home and to hold him for the first time. I was ecstatic to have him home, and be able to sleep in my own bed!

Number 4 a few hours before Spring...

Only missed being a spring baby by about 2 hours. So I was on bedrest since last Tues because my blood pressure was up. I went in on Friday so they could check how the baby was doing and that's when my Dr. told me my pressure was higher than before bedrest and I was heading to the hospital for evaluation. After a few more tests, an ultrasound, and a consultation with a specialist I was on my way up to Labor & Delivery to be induced. Eight hours later (and this time only a few pushes) Gavin came 5 weeks ahead of his due date.

He had a short stint in the well care nursery and then it was off to the NICU to make sure he was getting enough oxygen. But since then he has been a champ and has made amazing progress. He upgraded from his stylish oxygen hood to those nose plug things and then just this morning came off of it all together. He started nursing and is eating well. Now we are just keeping track of his blood sugar and jaundice. He'll probably get to come home in 3 or 4 days.

His brothers can't wait to meet him since little kids aren't allowed in the NICU. We are thrilled of our little addition to our family!!!

Chris' birthday falls just 4 days after Braydens, so it is probably fair to say that he often gets the shaft. After throwing a bash for Brayden, I do not seem to have a lot of enthusiasm for Chris on his special day. Sorry babe! We certainly do not love Chris any less, he is just a lot less demanding. This year the kids and I decided to make Sugar cookies instead of cake, because Chris doesn't really like cake. He enjoyed those, and then we put the boys to bed and headed out for a late dinner just the two of us (thanks for staying with them Collin). It may not have been a very exciting day, but I think Daddy knows just how much we really love him. You truly are my sanity and my happiness babe. I can not imagine life without you. I love you!

The Big 5!

My "middle man" turned five on Sunday. Friday night was party central, as we invited the fam over for a spider man themed celebration. Mom and Dad had "fun" spinning a yarn web on the ceiling, and daddy made an awesome spider man cake. Brayden was thrilled to have his cousins, aunts and uncles, grandmas and grandpas and mom dad and brothers in attendance. Thanks to Grammy we had a huge balloon fight and a good time was had by all. Thanks everyone for a fantastic evening. Happy birthday Bray, we love you!

Christmas Morning

Christmas morning is usually spent with Grammy and Grampy, but this year they were out of town, so for the first time ever this bunch of Snellies had Christmas morning in our own little home. What a morning it was! The boys started out sitting on the stairs for the tradition pictures, as they not so patiently waited for Daddy to get up. Each of my boys enjoyed looking through their stockings from Santa, and opening presents from each other. After a new football, skateboard, blocks, and lots of candy the boys figured Christmas morning was through. One final hidden present from Santa brought a reaction that I will always cherish and never forget. The smiles on their faces were priceless! If they didn't before that day, all of my children truly believe in Santa now. Thank you "santa" for making Christmas morning unforgettable!

The Magic of Christmas

Sometimes it is because they are getting presents, but often it is because they are giving a gift that they have worked hard on, or because they are spending time with family and friends. Christmas Eve is our time to celebrate the Holidays with the Whitmill side of the family. Part of our tradition includes a Christmas Eve devotional. Some years this means a church devotional with one of our wards. Many years we have been invited to participate through spoken word or song. Even when there is no organized devotional the Whitmill family puts on their church clothes and heads to the church to sing and celebrate the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. It is a wonderful tradition that I cherish. I appreciate my parents lead in helping all of us to remember the true meaning of Christmas.

Thanksgiving 2009

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving this year. Aunt Lisa, Uncle Dustin, and Cousin Cohen were in town. We had so much fun watching little Cohen play with the boys. He is sweet as can be, and he did a great job enduring the endless loving/torment that his 3 cousins had for him. We even took family pictures, and most of us are smiling!

What's in a name

Each of my three beautiful little boys has a name that we love. Their middle names are family names, and their first names seem to fit them to a tee. Well, as you may or may not be able to tell from the pictures, baby boy #4 is on his way. My biggest worry? A name! I am fresh out of ideas! I want his name to be just as beautiful and special as the others, but I haven't a clue! I am hoping that over the next 4 months we will be inspired to find the perfect name for our precious baby boy. Any suggestions?

Halloween!

It was August when I started lobbying my sweet husband for the chance to be something "pretty" for Halloween. Being the mother of three boys I usually end up being something scary or gross in order to fit the family theme. Chris told me I could choose what he and I would be this year, and we decided that the boys could be whatever they wanted. After a bit of looking around for a costume that would fit my ever growing belly, I decided I wanted to be a 1920's flapper, and Chris could be my gangster. When the boys heard our idea they decided that they all wanted to be gangsters. We had a great time as a gangster family, guns and all. Brayden insisted that I was not a flapper, but rather a "gangster girlfriend" with 4 boy friends! So much fun. I do love Halloween!

An October Snow Storm

Three days before Halloween in Colorado means it could be 70 degrees, or you could have 18 inches of snow on the ground. This year we had the latter. Jake enjoyed a day off of school, Daddy spent a lot of time shoveling, mommy got the car stuck, and we drank a lot of hot cocoa! It wouldn't have been my first choice, but we did enjoy some time hangin' out as a family!

Pumpkins!

Chris and I used to spend hours carving intricate pumpkins each October. Now we try to make it through one hour of carving pumpkins with three little ones who all want something different, and want to do it all themselves! Daddy was a trooper this year, and patiently helped each child design and carve a very simple jack-0-lantern. Everyone was happy, and very proud when we lit them on Halloween night. You are the best Daddy!

Jake has played soccer, and T-ball, and liked them both ok. This year he decided that he wanted to try football. I was a bit nervous, but consented to a season of flag football. He loved it! We loved watching him play. For once Jake's height was an advantage, and he thoroughly enjoyed showing us all how strong he is. Some of the games were really cold, but #2 didn't complain, he just played his heart out. Great season Jake, we are proud of you!

Inspirational!

Today was a truly inspirational day! For the first time I took part in the Race for the Cure. I'm not sure why it has taken me this long to take part in such an incredible experience. This year my mom and my three sisters, as well as a good friend and I walked with my Grandma as "team Audrey". My grandma Audrey is a 34 year survivor of breast cancer. What a fitting tribute it was to walk with "team Audrey", and watch as so many were overcome with emotion as they contemplated the magnitude of that number. 34 years! I can not describe what it felt like to be surrounded by a sea of pink all united in one common cause. It was amazing to watch the survivors as we payed them tribute, and humbling to watch the loved ones of those who had lost their battle in this life. I was greatly touched by the spirit of hope that pervaded this event despite the many who must battle sadness over the loss of loved ones. I feel renewed and inspired to have hope in my life, no matter what circumstances I may encounter.

What is it about October? Maybe it is the fact that I love Halloween, or that my mom and mom in laws birthdays are both in October. Maybe it is the cool crisp days, or the beautiful changing leaves. Maybe it is that October signals the start of the holiday season. I'm not sure what makes October so grand, I just know that I love it. My house is now decked out in pumpkins and candy corn, and my spirits are high! Happy October!

H1N1?!

I found out on Saturday morning that my little niece Lily was diagnosed with the H1N1 flu virus. Poor little thing was miserable! Lily was feeling fine on Friday, and attended a birthday party for Marlee. Unfortunately that means all of the cousins were exposed. We were crossing our fingers, and everyone seemed fine the rest of the weekend. Early this morning Brayden came and found me to tell me that Jake thought he had "the same flu as Lily", I was skeptical and yelled at Jake to come upstairs. He told me he couldn't, and when I got to him I could see why. Silent tears were rolling down his extremely hot cheeks, and his poor eyes made me want to cry. We took him to the doctor as soon as it opened, and sure enough he tested positive for H1N1. Poor miserable little baby! I feel so sad for him! We will hope the tamaflu can keep it under control so that he can endure it well and not have complications with his asthma. As for the rest of us, we are hoping for the impossible, that we all stay healthy!

Yummy Summer!

One of my favorite activities of the summer is planting a garden. It is so much fun to watch our vegetables grow, and finally become ready to eat. Somehow vegetables from the garden always taste 100 times better than the ones you buy at the store. My favorite thing to grow is tomatoes. This year we grew 7 varieties, among which was a new favorite, black cherry tomatoes. Yummy! We loved our yellow pear tomatoes, and our orange tomatoes, we even loved our good old romas, but nothing seemed to compare to the sweetness of those yummy black cherries! I love a yummy summer!

I am sitting home alone tonight. I have to admit that really stinks. My Hubby is in Atlanta until Tuesday. The reason he is there doesn't stink, in fact it is really cool! My totally awesome husband is in Atlanta because he and Collin (my brother in law) have been nomintaed for a PARSEC award, and the awards dinner is in Atlanta. What is a PARSEC award you ask? Wikipedia says "The Parsec Awards are a set of annual awards created to recognize excellence in science fiction podcasts". Many of you know that Chris has been producing Collins novel "The House of Grey", and they are being recognized for their hard work. They may not win the award, but I am so proud of what they have accomplished with this great project. Congratulations to both of you for chasing your dreams, and bringing enjoyment to the rest of us while you do it!

LIFE

I have just learned that an Elder I served with on my mission passed away this morning. I don't know any of the details yet, but what I do know is that I could not endure life's tragedies without my knowledge of the plan of happiness. Patrick was always so full of life. You couldn't spend even a few moments around him without laughing. He was upbeat, energetic, and wonderful. Even his facebook status updates kept me in stitches. To lose someone at such a young age is tragic. I am truly grateful for the gospel of Jesus Christ which teaches us that our Father in Heaven has an eternal plan-a true plan of happiness. I pray Patrick's family and friends will be comforted by this knowledge at this time of great loss. May God be with each of us until we meet Patrick again.

A Batman/Backyardigans Bash!

Jake and Logan's BIrthday's may only be a day apart, but the boys are 5 years apart. That means that although they may share a birthday party, we still need 2 themes. Jake chose Batman, and Logan picked Backyardigans. We had a wonderful family party on Friday night, and Jake enjoyed a small swimming party on Saturday. We are so thankful for the family and friends who helped us to celebrate these two amazing kids. Happy Birthday Boys!

My Babies are growing up! Jake turned 7 on Saturday, and Logan turned 2 on Sunday. I can hardly believe how much they have changed in these past 2 years. Jake has gone from a little boy just getting ready to start school to a "big boy" about to start 2nd grade. He has new front teeth, several inches of growth, a new attitude, and so many new skills! He reads, he writes, he rides a bike, and I can hardly believe how much my baby has grown. As I watch Jake learn so many new things, I realize just how fast the time is flying by. Before I know it my little boy will be a young man. I love you Jake!

Chris is constantly reminding me that Logan is not a "baby" anymore. He will always be my baby! Even so, I realize that he is growing up. His attitude says it all! He is 2, and there is no going back. Logan is smart, fun, and oh so sassy. We love him so much! We just wouldn't be complete without him. Happy Birthday Logan!

Independence day!

I love Independence day! It is a wonderful holiday that allows us to contemplate the blessing of living in a free country. I always feel teary as I watch fire works while listening to patriotic music and thinking of the men and women who have sacrificed so very much to maintain our freedom. I am so grateful to have the gift of raising my family in this wonderful nation.

We had an eventful 4th. We enjoyed the Rockies game followed by fireworks on Friday night. After the game we climbed the stairs of the parking garage to the 4th floor where we were parked. Brayden, Jake, and I were a few blocks ahead of everyone else. As the heavy fire door closed Brayden reached out behind him at just the wrong time. The middle finger of his right hand was crushed in the hinge side of the door. The firemen and ambulance came, and eventually we got to the Children's hospital ER at Parker Adventist. After x-rays and exams is was determined that Brayden's finger was squished with enough force that the tip came very near to literally "popping off". He fractured the bone in the process. Needless to say it was a painful night for Brayden, and a long night for all of us! I feel so blessed that things did not turn out worse. I am sure that Brayden will be back to his normal self in no time!

While we were in Utah for my graduation Aunt Lisa had the awesome idea of having the four boys (Jake, Brayden, Logan, and cousin Cohen) photographed. Aunt Lisa and Grammy took them to Skye, a wonderful photographer that Lisa knows, and they captured these angels on film. It certainly wasn't easy, there were more than a few tears (mostly from Logan), but in the end I think it was a success. See for yourself!

Well it's 4:30 am, and I'n not gonna lie. I am feeling rough. I am guessing that this is what a bad hangover feels like, although I don't really know, I am hoping to feel like a new woman (off of pain meds) by this time next week. Until then, thanks for putting up with my delirium. I feel so blessed for the outpouring of love we have received from family, neighbors, and friends. I just wish Chris wasn't leaving town today. I am nervous about being on my own. I am off to take a real shower now,before anyone wakes up. Wish me luck! My sincerest thanks for all of your love and support!

Spring Gardening

One of our favorite Spring activities is planting our garden. We enjoy planting the little garden in our backyard, as well as helping Papa plant his garden. This year we planted six kinds of tomatoes, several types of peppers, snow peas, strawberries, acorn squash, and cucumbers. We are still looking for a few more things to plant. It is so amazing to watch the little plants grow and produce fruit. What an awesome reminder of the incredible creation of our Earth! I am so thankful for all of the beautiful things our Father in Heaven has blessed us with. What a miraculous process it is to watch plants bloom and grow. I am reminded of the incredible process we each go through. I feel so thankful to be blessed with the opportunity to watch my children bloom and grow. I hope I can "nourish" them well. Happy Spring!

We just returned from a wonderful weekend in Provo Utah. Yes, I said Provo Utah, and it was the trip of my dreams! How can Provo Utah be the trip of ones dreams you ask? Because after starting my college education 13 years ago I have finally graduated from BYU. A long awaited dream come true. I have about a zillion and one pictures to post, but for now I will include the traditional cougar picture, plus some of our family on campus. The rest will follow soon!

Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday is definitely one of my favorite days of the year. Dying Easter eggs, and Easter egg hunts are fun, but when Sunday comes we put all of that aside and think of our Savior. I love the feeling of renewal that I always feel on Easter Sunday. Renewed hope for the future, and renewed faith in Jesus Christ. I love dressing the boys in new Easter duds, and then explaining why wearing something new in the colors of Spring can remind them of Christs resurrection. I love going to church and hearing the music of Easter, and feeling the sense of sadness at Christs death followed by the sense of peace that comes as I contemplate His resurrection. I love Easter Sunday! I hope that yours was as wonderful as ours.

We had a lot of fun preparing for Easter this year. We dyed Easter eggs, made "birds nest" cupcakes, and had a very fun Easter egg hunt, even if it was cold and rainy. You have to love Colorado. Easter egg hunts wearing parkas and carrying umbrellas. We still had a great time, and the kids enjoyed their loot.

It has been a long day! When Logan got up this morning he was acting funny. He absolutely refused to put any weight on his right foot. We went to the Doctor, went through a blood draw and x-rays, and now we are waiting. I am emotionally exhausted. Jake and Brayden asked if they could play in the backyard. I was delighted! After about half an hour I was thinking, wow, they are getting along so well! About half an hour after that the back door opened. Jake peeked in and I could see that he was muddy. Then he stepped in along with Brayden, and I could see that the two of them were completely naked. Upon questioning why that was they informed me that they had been taking a mud bath, and that it felt great! WOW! You have to love boys. I'll like them even better when they are clean again. I just hope they survive that long!

Spring Break!

I couldn't help but laugh when we woke up Monday morning. Spring Break! It really wasn't looking much like spring though. The snow was blowing, the kids were whining, and I was laughing. It figures that the kids finally get out of school and then can't leave the house because it is cold and snowy. We did have some family fun in the snow. We built a snowman, and had a very fun snowball fight, even if it was boys against girls-totally unfair! Unfortunately I didn't realize that Logan had put his sticky fingers all over my camera lens until after I took all the pictures. Oh well, you get the idea. It might even look kind of artsy, like I used a filter or something. Anyway, we are looking forward to some warmer weather, and praying that we don't have a blizzard when we drive to Utah in two weeks.

My "Little Babies"

I watched my little nephew Owen last week over nap time. I set up a pack n play in the boys room so he could sleep. Well, unfortunately I forgot to take the pack n play down before Jake and Brayden went to bed. We put them to bed, and when we went up a few hours later they were both asleep, in the pack n play! I don't know how they even fit! Jake was practically folded in half. I had to smile at the two of them all cuddled u together. My "babies"!

Happy St. Patty's day! I look forward to the little holidays were we can have some family fun. It doesn't take much when you have little ones. Green shirts for all, and of course corned beef with cabbage and red potatoes for dinner. We were especially lucky to get a visit from some very nice leprechauns. They left green cupcakes and green juice! Yummy! I tried to get a few pictures. As you can see it didn't go so well. Squirming and yelling! Of course we were all smiles when it was time to eat cupcakes. I am just hoping my little ones will remember these silly but special times.

Madison

We lost our friend and dog Madison this past weekend. He was really Grammy and Grampie's dog, but my kids liked to think of him as their own. It was time for him to go, but it was still very sad. My boys had very tearful good byes. Jake had an especially hard time, as he is beginning to truly understand the finality of death. Although it was very sad, I am thankful for the teaching moment maddy's passing provided. We were able to talk about resurrection, and the plan that our Heavenly Father has for each of us. I am so thankful that when my children asked where we go after we die, I had an answer. I do know what will happen to us after this life, and I am so thankful for the gospel of Jesus Christ that teaches us these things. I don't know how I would raise my children not knowing the plan that our Heavenly Father has for each of us.

BOYS, BOYS, BOYS

It is so much fun having boys! I had to assure several people at church today that I don't beat them. Logan and Brayden seem to be constantly beat up. This time it wasn't even Brayden's fault. His female cousin, who shall remain nameless, ran into him with a length of pvc pipe. Logan fell on an outside stair, and he couldn't catch himself because he had to save the chocolate chip cookie he had in his hand. Even though they seem to be constantly injured, they really are a ton of fun. I love playing around and rough housing with them. One of our favorite times to play is just before bed.
The boys are not allowed in mom and dads bed at night, but on occasion I do let them in to snuggle right before they go to bed. I love seeing the three of them so happy together. Some of my favorite moments are when we are all there together snuggling and enjoying a few precious moments of family time.

This week my "Baby" had surgery. Logan has had constant ear infections since he was only a few weeks old. On Wednesday he had tubes put in his ears. Although it was minor out patient surgery, as a mother it is always hard to see your baby in the hospital. Chris took the day off so we could take Logan together, but Jake got sick, so Chris had to stay home, and I took him on my own. Logan was great! The anesthesiologist was an hour late, so we spent two and a half hours in a tiny curtained in area. Logan couldn't eat or drink, so he was feeling a bit rough. Every time a nurse came in to check on us Logan would look up and ask "shake-shake?". Shake-shake is what he calls strawberry milk, and he drinks it within minutes of waking each morning. It was a stressful few hours, but we made it. We are hopeful that Logan will now be happier and healthier. I am so thankful he came through everything well.

Birthday Boys

Somehow we have managed to have birthdays that are close together in our family. Jake and Logan's birthdays are only a day apart, and Chris and Brayden's birthdays are four days apart. It is always a bit tricky to make sure that everyone's birthdays get celebrated the way that they want. This time was no exception. We had a fabulous family birthday for Brayden on his actual birthday. Brayden picked a Diego theme, so we had a diego cake, as weill as vines hanging from the ceiling with balloons attached. We played a Diego game, and decofrated bages with Diego stickers. The pinata was a highlight, and I think fun was had by all. On Chris' birthday we had a nice dinner out with family, and enjoyed a birthday cake with 30 candles! The boys were sure we were going to burn the house down! I loved the opportunity to celebrate how wonderful my boys are. Brayden is a little boy with a very big personality, and we couldn't love him more. I am so grateful for Chris as a husband, a father, and my best friend. Happy birthday boys! I love you!
